You Heard It Here First
Maine Virtual Academy (MEVA) is a virtual school conducted from platforms such as Zoom, Brightspace, Bongo, Canvas, etc. While it may not be what most people think of when they hear the words ‘middle/high school,’ it’s perfect for students like me, who like to have some freedom in their education and/or wish they could spend the day in the comfort of their own homes.

The best part about my time at Maine Virtual Academy is the teachers. They are by far the most supportive teachers I have ever seen in a school and go to extreme lengths to ensure that their students get the help they need. My schedule is very tight, and I have classes during both study hall periods. So, when I needed help with an essay, I couldn’t meet my teacher. But when I told her about this, she offered to meet me after my last class to give me all the help I needed! It’s amazing how flexible and willing the teachers are to help.

I enjoyed my time as a student at Maine Virtual Academy, and though it feels as though I graduated 10 years ago despite it being only one, I am grateful for the person the teachers have helped me become. I know more about myself than I did when I started at MEVA. MEVA knows how to create a safe space for its students, and I am lucky to have found such an amazing school. As I grow older, I will continue to sing the praises of this school. From Dr. Browne to every single one of my teachers, I sincerely thank you for making high school a time I will never forget. I learned far more than just my studies.
